Charlie Buzby’s folk art carvings are both a study of our natural world as well as an homage to an age old craft. Carving birds and animals, as decoys or decorative objects, has been a pastime for hundreds of years. Buzby's creations, each sitting on their driftwood perch are at the same time classic and contemporary. In his home studio in New Harbor, Maine, Buzby finds inspiration in the natural world, with birds, owls, whales and fish being his primary subjects. The carvings are carefully mounted on pieces of driftwood which he finds on walks along Pemaquid Beach. Each carving is unique in character and no two are alike.
