Deepest true black reveals new intensity in this stunning enamel statement necklace. Reversible to suit your mood, one side features a special element that adds texture. We call it diamond dust. In fact, the fine dust used to develop the “charred” surface is a reclaimed by-product called cupric oxide, which is ash left in the kiln after the firing process. Enamelists call it “firescale.”  The reverse side features a solid black pendant with a bold and graphic oxidized silver design, which functions as a decorative setting adding strength to the outer edge. The handmade chain of smaller enamel elements interspersed with bent and hammered silver is just as important as the beautiful pendant itself. Either way it is worn, this piece truly makes a statement.  We are inspired by artists who seek ways to repurpose what can be considered a waste material by some. Both Kate and her husband, ceramic artist Jonathan Mess, try to make reclamation a central feature of their work.
