Presented is an original signed NASA color lithograph of the first American woman to fly in space, Sally Ride. Printed in full color, this head and shoulders portrait depicts Ride with a NASA patch and a STS-7 patch on her shirt and the American flag and a small model of the space shuttle Challenger behind her. The lithograph is signed "Sally K. Ride" in black felt tip pen, over the American flag. Sally Ride (1951-2012) earned her bachelor’s degree in physics and English and a Ph.D. in physics from Stanford University. In 1983, she became the first American woman to fly in space, when she made a six-day flight aboard the space shuttle Challenger. At the age of 32, she was also the youngest American in space. Sally's historic flight made her a symbol of the ability of women to break barriers and a hero to generations of adventurous young girls. Ride flew on the Challenger again in 1984 and later was the only person to serve on both panels investigating the nation's space shuttle disast
