Vitex agnus-castus- Chaste Tree Berry Tincture
Vitex angus-castus Chaste berry is also known as monk's pepper, as it was historically used by monks who hoped to decrease their sex drive. This may be due to its action on the hypothalamus- pituitary- ovarian (or gonad) axis. In low doses it increases prolactin levels, which has the potential to lower libido and can increase lactation. In normal doses it can decrease prolactin levels. Vitex can be helpful for PMS symptoms such as breast soreness, fluid retention, and irregular cycles or cycles without ovulation or menstruation. It is also useful for peri-menopause when cycles and ovulation are irregular. *Vitex may interfere with hormonal birth control. Do not use during pregnancy.
