Northern Brewer Hops (Pellets)

Northern Brewer hops are a traditional bittering hop with pine and mint characteristics. It is the only hop in Anchor Steam beer, where it is used for both bittering and flavor/aroma. Many, many recipes call for using Northern Brewer as a bittering hop. We find using 1 ounce when brewing five gallons provides a nice generic bitterness for a variety of beer styles.  Hop Statistics:Alpha Acids: 8.0 – 10.0%Beta Acids: 3.0 – 5.0%Alpha-Beta Ratio: 1.6 - 3.33Cohumulone: (% of alpha acids): 20 – 30%Total Oils in mls per 100 grams dried: 1.5 – 2.0Storage(% alpha acids remaining after 6 months storage at 68° F): 70 – 85%Similar Hop Varieties: Chinook, Magnum, Galena
