 Indole-3-carbinol is a substance found in many vegetables. Indoles is used for prevention of breast cancer &colon cancer. The NIH has reviewed indole-3-carbinol as a possible cancer preventative agent and is now sponsoring clinical research for breast cancer prevention.  Indole compounds may help shift estrogen balance in favor of 2-hydroxyestrone, a protective estrogen metabolite.
