Baagh-Maar Sardar Hari Singh Nalwa born in 1791 was the commander-in-chief of Khalsa raaj during the Sher-e-Punjab era because of his bravery. During a hunt in 1804, a tiger attacked him and also killed his horse. His fellow hunters attempted to protect him but he refused their offers and allegedly killed the tiger by himself bare handedly by tearing the tiger apart from its mouth, thus earning the name Baagh-maar (Tiger-killer).
