Rosé des Glacieres - Faillenc Sainte Marie

100% Syrah from the Corbières in Languedoc, France. Jean-Baptiste Gilbert produces earthy full-throttled Syrah using purely organic viticultural methods and next to no technology in the winemaking process. The 100% Syrah for his “Rose de Glacieres” is harvested by hand from old vines imbedded in the rocky limestone soil on his 8 hectare property in Corbieres. The wine is made in the “saignee” method (juice that’s bled off his harvest early). His wine and its color is in stark contrast to many of the ultra pale pink styles found in France.  Ripe and juicy with power and grip, this is a fine example of rose lurking at the dark side of the rose color (and extraction) spectrum!
