ATTACK ON THE HIEI Limited Edition print by military artist Robert Taylor.Print#356/450 In Taylor's stunning painting, it's November 13, 1942 and Marine Ace Captain Joe Foss leads a flight of eight F4F Wildcats from VMF-121, in an attack on the Imperial Japanese battle cruiser Hiei. It's the Pacific Theater, north of Savo Island, Guadalcanal. Later that evening, after relentless air attacks, the Hiei, disappears beneath the sea- the first Japanese battleship sunk by American Forces in World War 2.
