Captain Don Gentile learned to fly in High School.  At the start of WW2, he enlisted with the RAF, flying with 133 Eagle Squadron which was created from American volunteers.  When America entered the war in 1941, he transferred to USAAF and became an Ace fighter pilot with 27 aerial combat victories. After surviving combat with the Luftwaffe, Gentile was killed in 1951 when the T-33 jet trainer he was flying crashed.
