Notes from the archive: This catalogue accompanied Alphonse Mattia's first exhibition at the Peter Joseph Gallery. The exhibit included vertical bookshelf units supported by an oversize compass, a gigantic clothes pin, and even one reinforced by multiple bottle shapes. Additional works included a game table and chairs, a series of valets, a bench, a major sideboard and a pair of torcheres (structurally held up by books, with burning books at the top creating the lighting metaphor). A favorite of the exhibition were a Pair of Easy Chairs, closely related
