Artist/Designer: Wendell Castle b. 1932, Emporia, Kansas Title: Grass 1962 Medium: Sculpture, Stack laminated in 4/4 solid Cherry Dimensions: 41"h x 36" x 21" Base: 20.25" x 12.5" x 3" Notes:  Designed in 1962, Signed WC 62. In very good condition. Notes from the archive: In 1962, Wendell Castle moved to Rochester NY to assume a teaching position at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Here he began experimenting with stack lamination, a technique mostly used for sculpture, which he later incorporates into his furniture.  His works in this style are extremely rare and include only a few sculptures, a Chest of Drawers with branch-like legs, and an organically shaped Music Stand.  Stack lamination continues to be a technique that Castle uses today to allow for organic sculptural shapes to be carved from layers of wood. This one-of-a-kind sculpture, is a lyrical example of Castle's early mastery in wood and a true museum piece. Shipping Notes: White Glove shipping required. Pleas
