This beautiful cotton throw by Cedric Varcoe tells the story of Ngurunderi, a significant ancestral figure in Ngarrindjeri culture. As Ngurunderi journeyed down the Murray River in search of his wives, he followed Pondi, the great Murray Cod, whose sweeping tail formed the twists and turns of the river. Along the way, Ngurunderi created the landforms, rivers, lakes, and the Ngarrindjeri people, teaching them essential survival skills, including lore, dance, and hunting. The rainbow, visible in the design, represents the rain that nurtures the land, and the transformation of Pondi’s body into different fish species. This throw not only captures the rich cultural history of Ngarrindjeri country but also serves as a functional, beautiful piece for your home.
