Diego Rivera records his first impressions in San Francisco after being commissioned to design a series of murals for the Stock Exchange Building. When this photo first published in the Rotogravure section of The New York Times on Nov. 23, 1930, it neglected to mention Frida Kahlo in the caption, who is only referred to as "his wife."
