James Boswell compiled this biography of English writer Dr. Samuel Johnson. ... Boswell's personal acquaintance with his subject began in 1763, when Johnson was 54 years old, and Boswell covered the entirety of Johnson's life by means of additional research. Samuel Johnson, often called Dr Johnson, was an English writer who made lasting contributions as a poet, playwright, essayist, moralist, critic, biographer, editor and lexicographer. He was a devout Anglican, and a committed Tory.  They measure approximately 8 " top to bottom, 5 1/2" side to side and 1 1/2" thick. These wonderfully old books are in fair readable condition.
