Shibori Stripe, Gris
Overview Featuring a shibori dye pattern taken from an original indigo-dyed silk fabric created by Poppy founder/designer Jennifer Hunt: The shibori process begins with undyed material that is pleated, folded, stitched, and modified. Once stitched or folded and bound, the fabric is dropped into a dye bath, traditionally indigo, and then removed and unwrapped to reveal a pattern. Subtle shifts, irregularity, imperfection…all define the nature of the shibori process and the sensitivity of indigo dye. The individual dyer works within such constraints to execute a pattern that reflects harmony, balance, and movement.
