Antique Sang de Boeuf vase lamp. This stunning lamp has sang de boeuf glaze - a deep red glaze also known as oxblood glaze. This style of glaze first appeared in 18th century China. The rich red color develops in the firing process using copper oxide. The pottery is fired in an oxygen starved kiln, and then re-oxidized during the cooling process. The oxblood base of this lamp is just the beginning. The lamp is capped on both ends by a small wooden feature with carved details. The light sockets are turned on with a pull chain on either side of the piece that is accented with a gold tassel. To cover the lightbulb sockets, this lamp has a stunning shade with damask style details that are delicate and subtle. Finally, this lamp has a spherical finial to top it all off.
