Easily grown to 15-36" tall x 18-36" wide. Mexican Hat is the mahogany-red colored form of the Prairie Coneflower that blooms from mid-summer into fall. A good naturalizing wildflower, that attracts bees, songbirds, and butterflies. The fine foliage contains chemicals which make it unpalatable to deer while the young foliage is very nutritious to livestock.This sun-loving plant does best in well drained, rocky, sandy, and clay soils.
