Ponytail Palm

Although not a true palm (it is actually a Yucca and a relative of the Joshua Tree), this is one of the most easy going plants there is! Just give it plenty of bright light and water it once a month or so! This plant is very slow growing, so buy it the size that you want it to stay! Ponytail Palms are non-toxic and pet safe... but they also look like literal cat toys, so maybe take that into consideration when purchasing if you have a curious cat as a roommate.Ponytails want temperatures to stay between 40-90 degrees F or so, meaning they can actually be grown outdoors year round in San Francisco! Protect from very harsh sun if growing outdoors.
