Prairie Sunflower Bread Machine or Oven Mix
I love the Dakotas, with their wide open spaces filled with sunflowers and lonely highways stretching to the horizon. It's a pleasant experience, driving the Dakotas. It's a trip back in time when settlers plowed the sod, planted fields, and raised families in sod homes. It's American. We've driven the Dakotas often--sometimes, when it's all sunshine and sunflowers, sometimes with dark clouds and lightning fracturing the sky, and once when it was 20 below and blowing snow. We love the Dakotas. We had to have Dakota sunflower bread. Dennis Weaver What's prairie sunflower bread like? It's nutty, really nutty--lots of sunflower kernels. You've never had a bread this nutty. Are the kernels hard? Sunflower seeds are a little softer than peanuts, not hard like walnuts. Is it a wheat or a white bread? It's a wheat bread, but it has enough white flour to temper the wheat flour. Is it a healthy bread? Yes. Whole wheat flour, lots of sunflower kernels, and milk. What's this bread like?
