From the UK and then across the pond to America, the “newsboy” cap was the cap of the working class for its simplicity and versatility from workwear to golf and even for dress. That’s why we’re introducing the 8-panel Waverly adjustable cap that completes nearly any outfit. The flat cap, or newsboy cap, traces its history back to 14th century Northern England where it was called a bonnet. The hat found favor with burghers, tradesmen, and apprentices across the UK and then in the USA as well. For this release we’ve selected a 10 oz. salt and pepper, or covert, chambray cloth milled in Japan. Don’t let the smooth hand of this fabric fool you: it’s also hard-wearing and resists showing dirt. This fabric was especially popular with American mechanics as it doesn’t readily show grease stains. The Waverly features a snap-down brim, not sewn down like you’ll see on cheaper hats.
