A Strong Navy Guarantees Peace - Navy Day
During World War II, the United States Government used the poster medium to produce tens of thousands of different images in support of the effort of the troops around the globe. The United States Navy played a vital role in allowing for troop movement to Europe as well as serving to limit the Axis in its efforts to conquer more territory. Here, the power of the Navy is shown in formation of the American Flag. Navy Day traces its roots to the disarmament years between WWI & WWII. It was established in 1922 by the Navy League of the United States. October 27th was chosen as the day to honor the Navy for its connection to the 1775 report to first purchase ships for the American Revolution; a step that was a precursor to the official formation of the Navy. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
