Air France Paris - Guerra
This poster is one of a series of posters commissioned by Air France to show their routes around the world. In this image, the artist Vincent Guerra shows us timeless beauty of Paris, with an interesting reference to the ancient Normans that settled the city. Another variant of this poster says "...is teo thousand years old" below the "Paris". In the foreground is the famous Fontaine Saint-Michel, with the Eiffel Tower in the distance. Posters such as this one were usually distributed to travel agents around the world as promotional items. Note the Constellation propeller plane in the background. Air France was formed on 7 October 1933, from a merger of Air Orient, Air Union, Compagnie Générale Aéropostale, Compagnie Internationale de Navigation Aérienne (CIDNA) and Société Générale des Transports Aériens (SGTA). Among these airlines, SGTA was the first commercial airline company in France, having been founded as Lignes Aériennes Farman in 1919. At the time when Air France was formed
