Alcyon - Man in Blue
This handsome Art Deco poster was created for Alycon, a French purveyor of bicycles and automobiles. 'TSF' is a reference to the wireless radios that Alcyon sold, both for listening to the Tour de France as a spectator as well as for cyclists to use while riding to know their positioning. A small image of one such radio is seen in the bottom section of the image. Alcyon was founded in 1890 by Edmond Gentil as a bicycle company. Alcyon bicycles would go on to win 6 Tour de France races. The company expanded into motorcycle production in 1902, and finally into car manufacturing in 1906. Alycon was absorbed by Peugeot in 1954. Georges Favre (dates unknown) created many posters throughout the 1920s and 1930s, and he is best known for his bicycle illustrations. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
