Leonetto Cappiello was truly a master of his craft, and this rare example shows his talent off in full. He employs his extensive art training in the elegant twisting of the woman's body, allowing her to both float through the air with ease and joy while still being strong enough to confidently hoist the bounty of Gautier grapes above her shoulders. It is all done in an unusual and desirable blue and and yellow color palette; one that the artist did not frequently use. It is a joyous image, perfect for the entertaining areas of the home. Maison Gautier Cognac traces its history back to 1644 when Charles Gautier, the son of an oak merchant (read: barrels) married Jacquette Brochet, the daughter of a vineyard owner. The company went "on the books" in 1755 with a royal warrant from King Louis XV and count this year as their true founding.
