Le Mont Saint Michel - Starr
Le Mont Saint Michel is a 1947 English language French travel poster by Starr. The poster carries the tagline, "The Pearl of French Medieval Art," for the medieval architecture of the town centered on the monastery. The town was built on a hill top that is naturally protected by the changing tides that surround it as an island at times during the year. Throughout the years, SNCF has commissioned prominent artists to depict well known destinations in France. These beautiful posters encouraged train travel by the French public as well as by visitors. This series is well known to collectors for their classic imagery and insight into the culture of 1950’s era France. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction. This poster is conservation mounted, linen backed, and in excellent condition. We guarantee the authenticity of all of our posters.
