This poster features an elegantly dressed French lady carrying a basket full of fruits. While the artist used painterly strokes for her dress, the fruits and vegetables were carefully portrayed to capture all the details to create a colorful and delicious graphic. As the text reminds us, this poster was created to promote the Western railway in conjunction with Brighton Rail to deliver produce from Paris a Londres, or "Paris to London". The train departed from St Lazare Station in Paris and went through Rouen, Dieppe, and Newhaven. It made speedy special daily service possible, delivering fresh fruits and flowers daily to London as well as passengers. The rapid service line reveals the advancement of the technology at the time, as well as the modern lifestyle that was not conceivable before.
