Philips - Scooter
The 1950s was the beginning of a tremendous growth in the development of consumer electronics throughout Europe. The Philips Company was one of the largest of the manufacturers of radios, record players, and televisions as well as other household appliances. Based in Holland, Philips commissioned this poster for the French market. The image shows us one of the new transistor radios that were trending at this time and it shows us the enjoyment of using this new product on the go - quite literally! The image is both fun and very effective in attracting our eyes to the message of this poster. Pierre Fix Masseau began his career as an apprentice to master Art Deco designer A.M. Cassandre, for whom he worked for from 1926 to 1928. This experience greatly impacted Fix-Masseau, who continued to work within the Art Deco style for the remainder of his long career.
