This is one poster in a very broad campaign relaying messages about maintaining confidentiality and keeping quiet during war times. During the Second World War, the United States Government was very concerned about inappropriate information being overhead by enemy agents both domestic and abroad and relay the information to their country and thus led to injury and possible death of our soldiers. The image depicted is meant to be graphic and provoke an emotional reaction from the viewer in order to solidify the message of silence.
