Sometimes the most pared down compositions have the most impact. That can be seen here, in this dramatic 1944 American WWII poster promoting the purchasing of war bonds. An American soldier peels the US flag across our line of vision, using great strength to block out the dark and doom-filled sky behind him. This poster was printed by the U.S. Treasury Department and was likely created for the 6th War Loan campaign. The 6th War Loan began in November, 1944 with a goal of 16 billion dollars. The previous war bond drives raised in total 355 billion dollars, including 38 billion from individuals. This is an Original Vintage Poster; it is not a reproduction.
