Eurytides marcellus is found throughout the North American range of its host plant, the pawpaw tree (Asimina triloba). Adult butterflies drink nectar, but they also have other appetites that seem unbecoming of such lovely creatures. Zebra swallowtails are often found “puddling”—drinking directly from the soil to soak up salts and nutrients. But mud puddles aren’t the only things they seek out; they’re also known to feed on rotting fruit, urine, and dung. This soft enamel, double posted lapel pin features a white morph of the summer adult form. This bold, wearable pin measures 2 inches across and comes on a Bug Box backer with species name.
