German WWII Cased 1939 Iron Cross 1st Class-This is a handsome cased iron cross that retains the majority of its black finish to its iron core. The silver frame is darkly toned to complement the black finish. This award is unmarked, but we feel this could be an unmarked Steinhauer & Lucke. It is in a black leatherette case that is also in good condition. Except for a few bumps and bruises, it is mostly scuff and scratch free. The emblem on the cover looks good. The inside has a white flocking that is slightly age toned, but damage free. This is a nice looking medal. History: On March 10th, 1813, Prussian Kaiser Friedrich Wilhelm III established the Iron Cross as a temporary award for bestowal during times of war.
