Magnolia No. 2

9 x 12" Mixed media on canvas paper Unframed Several times a year I’ve been known to stop the car for a photo when the magnolias are in bloom. Is there anything more glorious than these bold floral sculptures? As I worked on this series a slightly different approach took shape. Magnolia: Petals and Pattern is a collection of original mixed-media paintings on canvas paper that offers a fresh take on the classic magnolia. Each painting features a curvy bloom set against a patterned background, balancing freeform shapes with visual energy. Earthy greens, browns and pearly whites layer over a gold foundation, allowing the surface to catch and reflect light in a way that feels luminous. I think there’s a joy to these paintings and that’s what I hope they’ll bring to each home they inhabit. Caron
