The bird is one of the most recurrent motifs in Niki de Saint Phalle’s artworks, and generally symbolizes themes of freedom, joy and love. The « rossignol » (transl. nightingale) design appeared in her work in the early 1980s, famously featured as an element in the Stravinsky Fountain in Paris. This dynamic design invites playfulness. The scarf can be worn in many ways – draped around your neck, as a top, at the waist or as a headscarf !
