I'd be willing to bet Marty Marichino had more than a few of these, based on the number of servicemen she was dating in Grease. This is the sort of thing a sailor sent his gal so she would think of him. She could put her stockings inside to keep them unsnagged. Or maybe fill it with scented hankies, or letters and a lock of his hair. This came from an estate auction but I remember my grandmother having some kind of "sweetheart" gift like this, given to her by my grandfather during WWII. I think they may have been a thing during the Korean War as well.  It's cheap craftsmanship is pretty evident. Of course, it is the thought that counts, but this was not a top shelf gift in its day. A fellow could probably afford several to send to multiple sweethearts. It has some staining but otherwise appears unused. It measures about 9" x 7". •°•☆•°•☆•°•☆•°•☆•°•☆•°•☆•°•☆•°•☆•°•☆•°•☆•°• The fine print about items purchased from the Studio Shop  What you're getting here. I'm selling items from my own
