An ceramic gondola-shaped centerpiece bowl from Abingdon Art Pottery featuring a scalloped body with two embossed leaf details inside, both flanked with decorative handles, all finished with a creamy shell white glaze.  The planter measures 14" long, 5 3/4" wide and 4 1/4" high.  The bottom is stamped with "Abingdon U.S.A." and the numbers "532".  Apart from an inconsequential glaze miss on one of the handles, the condition is pristine.  Two spur mark holes noted below the handles. Abingdon Art Pottery In 1908, Raymond E. Bidwell established the Abingdon Sanitary Manufacturing Company in Abingdon, Illinois,  producing vitreous china plumbing fixtures.  To stay afloat during the great depression, Abingdon started producing art pottery from 1934 until reverting back to making plumbing fixtures exclusively in 1950.
