White Swann, Hopi Painted Pot with Geometric Design (JM53)

This lovely, wide Hopi pot with a tall, flared neck and geometric designs is signed White Swann by Dolly Joe Navasie.   Dolly Joe Navasie (b. 1964) is best known by her name White Swann.  She is a daughter of Eunice “Fawn” Navasie, a sister of Dawn and Fawn Navasie, and niece of Joy "Second Frogwoman" Navasie. She began making pottery at age 6 with her grandmother Poli-Ini and learned to paint pottery at age 17 from her mother, Eunice.  She has earned many awards for her traditional pottery over the years.
