Credited as being the first surfer to hang ten as well as the world’s first commercial shaper, Velzy is renowned–among many things–for his contributions to modern longboard design. The Velzy Classic is a minimal area fin with a fair amount of sweep and some trustworthy length in the base. Its small surface area makes it feel fast, while its pronounced rake and low profile enable longer, drawn-out turns. Relatively stiff with a fuller foil, Velzy initially designed this
