1/6 Daguerreotype Little Girl ID'd by Note + Braid of Hair - West Virginia 1840s
6th plate daguerreotype of a little girl, identified by a period note as Abigail Adam Miller Tharp. Online info shows finds that she was born on March 2, 1840 in Guyandotte, West Virginia, and died in 1928 in Kansas. Her bio states that she moved to Illinois at the age fo 10, but she doesn't look quite 10 years old in this photo, so I believe it was probably taken by a West Virginia photographer ..... See below for a longer bio. Included with the dag in the case behind the image are the note and a long lock of braided hair. Dag is unsealed with tarnish. There appears to be a very light swipe in the background to her left, but no heavy damage.
