Domaine des Ardoisieres, Schiste Vin des Allobroges Cevins Blanc (2022)

Domaine des Ardoisières is a pioneering estate in the Savoie region of eastern France, nestled in the foothills of the French Alps. The 2022 Schiste Vin des Allobroges Cevins Blanc is a standout white, showcasing the distinct characteristics of Savoie’s high-altitude vineyards. This wine is a blend of 40% Jacquère, 30% Roussanne, 20% Pinot Gris, and 10% Mondeuse Blanche, all planted on poor mica and schist soils from the Coteau de Cevins. The grapes are vinified whole cluster in two- to three-year-old barriques, then aged for 12 months in barrel. Bottled after light filtration with minimal sulfur (only one gram added), the wine remains true to its biodynamic and organic roots. The 2022 Cevins Blanc is fresh and vibrant, with a crisp, clean texture. Bright citrus and green fruit flavors are balanced by a distinct minerality, which adds depth and complexity. With a light to medium body and excellent acidity, it finishes refreshingly dry with lingering citrus and mineral notes.
