Sunday Silence and Easy Goer Battle

Tony’s shot of Sunday Silence gaining the lead on archrival Easy Goer in the 1989 Preakness Stakes captured the intensity of competition between these two horses. Meeting four times that year – the Triple Crown series and in the Breeders’ Cup Classic – the pair of Bourbon County-born colts thrilled fans with one-two finishes each time, while pitting East against West and the blue-blood old school against the underdog upstart.
