The Kitty League (Kentucky, Illinois, Tennessee) had several teams in Kentucky and some of those towns had teams of different over the course of their minor league history. For example, Mayfield had the Clothiers, the Browns, and the Pantsmakers. Friend of the Uncommonwealth, Mark Huffman originally of Mayfield, recently turned us on to Mickey Stubblefield. Mickey was the first "black" player signed to play in the Kitty League and played for the Mayfield Clothiers. Out of safety concerns, Mickey was only allowed to pitch in front of his hometown fans.  The Mick played one season in the Negro League in 1948, as a starting pitcher. He started 2 games for the Monarchs and completed both of them. His nickname was "The Mayfield Mounder."
