Antique François Theodore Devaulx Bronze Magna Carte Sculpture 1808-1870
Gorgeous "The signing of the Magna Carta" bronze with dark patina sculpture by famous French sculptor François Theodore Devaulx (1808-1870). Devaulx was known for extremely lifelike and expressive bronzes of figures, specializing in works of figurative fiction and historical moments. This work is number 3376 on the back and engraved on the inside with the sequence 540-03-7967. "The Signing of the Magna Carta" depicts King John, the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Earl of Albemarle in June of 1215. It is interesting to note that 2015 is the 800th anniversary of this historic occasion. This piece is in great condition. The Kings head is a tad wobbly, but only when physically maneuvered.
