Antique Japanese Jizai Kagi with Handcarved Wooden koi & Iron Pot Holder On Bamboo Pole
Wonderful antique Japanese jizya kagi with bamboo pole and a hand carved dark stained wooden fish lever. Large metal hoop on the top of the bamboo pole for hanging. Jizai Kagi were originally hung over the hearth in Japanese homes and were used to warm pots over the fire. The fish was a popularized decoration style that was used to display wealth to guests. Jizai Kagi are meant to be hung and are more commonly used now as unique wall decor. Although, before being hung the metal hook needs to be secured to the top of the bamboo pole. There is metal hook on the top of the fishes head that is made to hook the bottom of the pole to the top, so that it doesn't all fall apart when you flip it over.
