From afar, this ring may appear to be a run of the mill cameo, but upon closer inspection you'll see that this hauntingly beautiful piece exudes ghostly sensuality. Originating in Alexandria, Egypt in 300 BC, cameos have been used throughout the years as status symbols, charms of desire, and teaching tools. They were coveted, collected and popularized by the likes of Napoleon, Queen Victoria and Pope Paul II. One look at this ring and it's easy to see why cameos garner so much adoration. Handcrafted by skilled artisans in beautifully layered onyx, this miniature work of art features a white, marble-like carving of a nude woman wrapped in a thin gauze dress set against a black background. The outline of her breasts and her gorgeous hourglass figure are accentuated in the carving -- which was considered quite risqué for the time. Cameo is set in 10k yellow gold with minimal shoulder detailing to allow the stone to be the showstopper. Additional Details Date: 1880s Materials: 10k
