Now all but forgotten, the art of wearing hair jewelry was once a common practice for hundreds of years. Popular in the time before photography, hair jewelry was created not only to serve as a keepsake between lovers, mothers and sweethearts, but also as a memento to remember and mourn a lost loved one.  This exquisite hair ring hails from the tail end of the Georgian period. It is crafted in 14k yellow gold with beautifully engraved floral shoulders. Set behind a thick piece of glass is a woven lock of chestnut colored hair. This ring is so demure, you almost have to give it a second glance to realize it is a hair ring.  Unfortunately, we do not know whether this is a mourning ring or a sentimental ring as the only clue we have to its original owner are the initials "AFWO" inscribed, somewhat crudely, inside the band.  Additional Details Date: 1820sMaterials: 14k gold, glass, hairSize: 7.5Markings: Engraved AFWOCondition: Very GoodRing has light surface scratches consistent with
