This vampy celluloid box is the perfect place to hide away secrets, store keepsakes or even house your budding antique jewelry collection. As was customary for a number of trinket and jewelry boxes of the time, this box is constructed out of papier-mâché and then coated in inky black celluloid. The celluloid is beautifully embossed with three-dimensional trumpet flowers as well as decorative scroll work on the front. The lid slopes slightly toward the front, elevating the artwork. The inside of the box is lined in blood red colored silk and it fastens with a decorative brass latch that is just as beautiful as the box itself.
