For lovers of hair work, mourning pieces and all things tiny!  This diminutive brooch is the perfect size for a collar or a lapel. Pin it to a piece of ribbon and turn it into the cutest little choker! The possibilities are endless! Popular in the latter part of the Georgian era, these minuscule mourning pieces were often simple in design to express the gravity of the situation. They also were often kept hidden -- pinned on the inside of the wearer's clothing as a personal memento not to be shared with others.  This particular piece is made of pinchbeck -- a secret blend of zinc and copper designed to look and wear like real gold. It looks to have what could possibly be two different people's hair inside as one section is significantly darker than the rest.  Sadly, there is no information inscribed on the back to tell us who this hair belonged to.  Additional Details Date: 1820s Materials: Pinchbeck, human hair, glass Measurements: 3/4" x 11/16" Markings: None Condition: Very Good
