Victorian Hand Carved Meerschaum Religious Relic

A delicate meerschaum (a white claylike material) relic depicting the Virgin Mary holding a crown of thorns with a cross tucked within her arm.  Hand carved with incredible detail and high relief, the carving almost looks soft to the touch.  Framed in a black ebonized wood oval frame with its original convex glass and back with felt. Additional Details Date: 1850-1870 Materials: Meerschaum, glass, wood Measurements: 5" x 5 3/4" Markings: None Condition: Very good. There are some minor dings and scratches in the frame. Does not detract. Cleaning and Care Wipe with damp microfiber cloth.
