On the nose it isintense with notes of spice, dried fruit, and some complex iodine notes.Medium dry, fresh and vibrant, rich in saline and spices. A lingeringaftertaste of brandy and dried fruits.Blandy’s 2009 Verdelho Colheita was aged in seasoned American oak casksin the traditional ‘Canteiro’ system, whereby the wine is gently heated bywarm air in the lofts of the company’s south-facing lodge in Funchal. Overthe years the casks are transferred from the top floor to the middle floorand eventually to the ground floor where it is cooler. The wine is regularlyracked during the ageing process and is finally bottled when thedesired balance of maturity is reached.
